PARTNERSHIP WITH THE LIGHTNING

We are excited to announce our new partnership with PS Kalamata. This opportunity has been a long time coming and fits perfectly within the culture and pathway we are creating for all local Lighting players.

Along with this partnership, PS Kalamata has become a top sponsor of our U23 Academy team and program. Together we are working to inspire more young athletes to pursue and continue their goals of becoming a pro player. We are looking forward to expanding our ambitions internationally and building a solid foundation for our club to build upon.

PRO PATHWAY

It takes more to becomming a pro player than just being good at soccer. Potential athletes need to be guided through the rigor, red tape and countless obstacles required to make it to the top.

PS Kalamata will review highlight videos and resumes from each Lightning player interested in going international. Selected players will receive the opportunity to tryout for a pro team in Greece.

The PS Kalamata youth academy is ready to welcome our club to train and play. We are excited to introduce an opportunity for our players to experience an international culture rich with history.

Foreign Exchange: We are working to build a program where players and families can host and or be hosted in Greece and the USA. If you are interested in becoming a host family, please reach out to our director.

With perfect whether year-round, PS Kalamata players enjoy a professional training and a game field with some of the best climate in the world. No need for an indoor facility in paradise!

TRIP TO GREECE

Kalamata, Greece is an incredible place to visit. BLFC is planning a club trip in mid 2024. Players will play and train with PS Kalamata club coaches while parents explore and sightsee. The experience will include friendly games against local clubs and a weekend tournament in Greece.

All BLFC members will be able to take part in this experience. More details soon to come.

CLUB HISTORY

Kalamata FC was formed in 1967 when local teams Apollon Kalamata FC and Kalamata Sports Club were forced to merge by the Greek Junta. The Phoenix, which was the emblem of the dictatorship, was chosen as the team's crest and was removed after the Greek restoration of democracy in 1974.
